Antique Biedermeier brooch with genuine Sardinian coral and natural sea pearls – rosette design, circa 1850

This museum-quality brooch from the Biedermeier period (ca. 1850–1870) was artfully crafted from genuine Sardinian Mediterranean coral ( Corallium rubrum ) and decorated with natural sea pearls.

At the center is a large, finely grained coral bead, surrounded by nine evenly set spheres and small white pearls in a floral arrangement. The delicate setting is probably made of gilded tombac or brass—typical of the period.

The classic long needle closure dates back to a production before 1870.

One of the small pearls was apparently carefully restored – barely visible, but mentioned for the sake of completeness.

An authentic collector's item in good condition with original patina – a true gem from the Biedermeier period.
